いや、富野監督はもともとそういう作風の人。
古くはトリトンで最後に善悪をひっくり返して主人公のアイデンティティを崩壊させてる。
相棒のイルカと共に何処へともなく去りゆくラストには戦い終わったカタルシスもなにもない。
そのせいで（後にヤマトをつくった）西崎氏に干されており、ガンダムを作るときの合言葉が「ヤマトを潰せ」というものだったのは有名な話。トリトン以後も素直に大円団を迎えた作品は殆ど無い。
