その意味では着弾防御捨てて機動防御に振ったってだけじゃ？

現実の兵器の話なら現用艦艇なんて着弾防御ほぼ捨てて迎撃防御に力入れてるし

使い捨てできてすぐに補給できる盾の概念があるから本体の装甲はボチボチ削っても良いとは思う
一番良いのはストライカーの追加装甲みたいな感じだろうけど

どうせビーム直撃したら生半可な装甲は無意味だから軽量化して機動力を上げるのはグリプス戦争以降は常識
実体弾の併用され続けてるから装甲が無意味ない訳ではないけど

ゼータの時代はビーム当たれば破壊されるから装甲を薄く〜ってよくいうけど

ゼータの方が明らかにファーストよりビーム食らってもダメージ低いんすけど・・・

連邦は超硬スチールは使ってないよ。
ジムはチタン合金。

他作品にパジャマソルティックがあるが、
こちらは薄くするどころか装甲そのものを一部のフレームごと全部削除するという男らしいにも程がある機体だった。
実際にダグラムがまるで追従仕切れずにピンチになった。

グフがシールド持ってるのは「装甲に頼るのは危険」というベテランパイロットからの要望とか聞いたような

戦場の絆じゃあやっすいコストに良好な機動力と火力って
装甲以外は高水準で格闘好きが使う人気機体だったけど
コスト帯ごとに一律でブーストや着地に硬直時間を設定されたもんだから
ウリの機動性が死んで誰も使わない産廃になりもうした

銃が戦場の武器の主流となったことで鎧や甲冑が廃れたように、ビーム兵器が主流となったら、装甲は最低限にするのが妥当だろう。
ただし全ての兵に使いこなせる訳でもないし、実弾系の武器もまだまだあるので、基本はエース級のパイロットのみに支給とかでエエやろ

まあ、軽量化しすぎた弱点はあるけども運用の仕方次第、ではあるな。
指揮官とパイロットによっては有効に運用できる。

MSって初めのうちは外骨格式だったんでしょ？ちょっとした衝撃で脚部が破損して終わりそう。
あと宇宙空間で装甲を削りすぎると小さいデブリですら致命傷になりかねないから軽装甲は自殺行為

元々、ジム・ライトアーマーは急場凌ぎの現地(といってもジャブローとかだが)改修機、みたいな設定だった。
その後に生産されたＭＳのほとんどは機動性が上がってるので、それが当たり前になっていつの間にか設定自体が消えていた･･。
