メタの扱いはともかく作中では需要が無くなることはないだろうな
運用が違うし、今はTV・劇場版ともに両方存在してる設定になってるから使い分けはされてたんじゃないかな

Gファイターがあまりにも嘘くさいから代わりに用意されてたもんだしな
そういうマイナスの思考で生み出されたもんは大抵駄目なんだよ
Gファイターが駄目なら、もっと説得力がある良いものを用意するか
全く別なもんにすべきだった
ガンダムを追加配備するとか、めぐりあい宇宙でガンキャノンふやしてるしね

そもそもMSの戦争有用性を語る事自体が間違い
何故わざわざロボットでチャンバラ決め込む必要があるのか？
ジオンはそれしかないからやってるだけ、連邦は同じ土俵でも上回れる事を示してるだけで（それで軍備が逼迫する本末転倒には見ないフリ）
なりふり構わなければ前もってサイド3ごと爆破するなりコロニー補給線を一般人のライフラインごと軒並み封鎖するなりやりようはいくらでもあった
過ぎた時間をたらればで振り返っても後の祭りというだけの話

でも、劇場版でコアブースターが登場しないと、セイラさんの活躍場所が無くなってしまうぞ。
WB隊の謎編成を考えると、戦闘機が入っていてもおかしくないけどね。そもそも、後期になっても量産機のジムすら入っていないのが変だけど。

劇中の編成はV作戦、コアブロックシステムを運用の核とした統一された編成なのよ
だから通常戦闘機やGMといった「血液型の異なる機体」を配備するより
最悪、共食い整備すら可能な整備性を考慮した効率の良い編成だといえるのよ

説明不足だったようで。戦闘機はコアブースターの事です。
コアブロックシステムの件は、その通りだと思います。ただ、後期に入ってもWB隊にジムの一機も配備されないのはどうかな、と。おとり役と言われれば、それまでですが。

今だったらソロモン攻略戦あたりで、WBの格納庫にジムが入っているんだろな。謎のモブパイロットが補充されたりして。

ジムだけ入ってパイロットが入らないと話おかしくなるし
入ってきたらそれはそれで連邦特有のイキリ軍属ではない、余程の人格者じゃない限りガンダムの取り合いになるから仕方ない
そういう意味でスレッガーロウは正に適任だった、有能なのにおとり部隊に回されるあたり連邦的にも扱いづらかったんだろうか

最初にスポンサー騙すプレゼンでコアシステムを合体メカって紹介したけど、それ程登場せずスポンサーや広告代理店に詰められた挙句に出したのがＧメカシリーズでその後合体分離場面も増やしたんじゃないの？映画が当たった頃は既に合体メカじゃなくモビルスーツが認知されて売れてたから新要素のコアブースターで最小限の修正と追加で済ませたんじゃないの？

多分、囮にされてることに対して不満を爆発させて、叛乱でも起こしたときの監視役とかだったんだろう。
独立部隊という性質上、ジオンに寝返ろう！とかなったときに止めようがない。
もっとも、スレッガーに向いた仕事ではないだろうけど、そういうの押し付けられても断れない立場だったのではないかと。

コアファイター剥き出しってのが逆にデザインのバランスとしても退化してるようにも思う。
玩具的運用でもGファルコンやOライザーは単体で格好良かったし。
とはいえフライマンタとデザインを似せてたり合理的運用に徹する連邦らしさを意識させる上ではいいデザインだと思った。でもそうなるとコアブロックが結局邪魔なんでジェットコアブースターが最適解になるかと思ったがそうじゃないし。
ちなみにアッシマーの顔は思いっきりドムだけどMA形態のパンケーキは思いっきり「連邦系」のシルエットですよね。
Gアーマーも円盤型MAとして作って合体すると円盤からガンダムの顔が出るようにすりゃ良かったのかも？

コアブースターが強くても世界観はくずれない。
そもそも、コアブースターって、ガンダムのコアであるコアファイターの出力を転用しているから強いのであって、コアファイター込みでのコストはかなり高いんだよ
