ザク：設定画で左に盾をつけると腕や胴体のデザインが隠れちゃって設定画の役に立たないから
ジム：右にサーベル付けると頭で隠れちゃうから（頭からちょっとだけ見えて角に間違われるから）
と、勝手に想像してみる

大気圏突入の回でアムロのハイパーバズーカ食らったけど偶然盾がガードになったお陰で致命傷を免れたからやっぱ右肩で正解なんだよきっと

というか宇宙空間でなら上手く外せば一体でもマガジン交換可能だし、そもそも劇中でも僚機に譲ってるからそういう用途も有る

左が損傷しても大きな戦力ダウンにならないけど
右腕がやられると攻撃に大きな支障が出る
全身を守る楯じゃなくて右腕部を守る楯なんだよ

AMBAC的には左右対称な質量が良さげに思うけどね。
それと盾で本来守るべきはバイタルパート(操縦席と核融合炉)だと思う。

本当は盾のつもりではなく、宇宙船とかに収納する時に横置きの際に安定させる為のスキッド的なものだったと俺も適当な事を言ってみる

一般兵でトゲトゲ使いこなせる奴なんて稀だろ
それよりも両方盾にした方がいい、生還率高くなるハズ

ガワラさんは左に付ける体でデザインしたけど、設定画ではシールドに隠れる部分が無いように左右逆転させて描いたら、アニメでそのまま右側についてて焦った、と言ってたな。

右肩の盾は、武器支持架となる右腕をなるべく防護するため、と聞いたが。流れ弾なんかで右腕もぎ取られたら攻撃力なくなるからね。左肩は、突撃接近時の攻撃用でそ？

ザクⅡの盾は元々MS戦を想定してないから戦艦の機関砲や定置砲台の直撃を受けてもコックピットが爆散しなければいい程度の合板シールドを運用してるはず
仮に右腕が無くなっても相手が基地や施設なら左腕だけでも制圧は不可能ではないし、本当に危険ならその時点で撤退すればいい

マラサイは、記号としてのザクが完全に出来上がった中で
それにあやかろうとデザインされてるからな
モノアイ、タコっぽい口、ほっぺたや腰のパイプ、右肩のシールド、左肩のスパイク
これにほんのちょい目新しい兜っぽい頭が付いたおかげで人気が出た

両方盾ってオリジン版の06Rガイア機が。
両方ともウエポンラックで、攻撃力持続は、利にかなってると。
ハイザックや、種デスのザクファントムも、ある意味実用的かと。ザクファントムは、予備マガジン、ビ―ムトマホークのウエポンベイの機能果たしてるし。

上記の※11でも言ってるけどショルダータックルなんてバイロット視点で考えると砲火の中に体当たり特攻してるようなものだから一般兵はまず使えないし使う機会も少なそう
ショルダータックル自体実行したのは初代のガデムくらいでトゲ付ショルダーを武器として運用したのはナックルガードとしてだがバトローグのバリスティックザクくらいしか思いつかない
