アニメとは設定が違うかもしれないけど、小説版では幼い時に母親を失ったシャアを見て何とか力になりたいと思ったり、見た目とは裏腹に結構情で動いているんだよねキシリアは。
だからギレンを殺したのも戦局や政治闘争は二の次で、単に父親のかたきを討ちたかっただけなのかも

本編のWB隊の言を借りると一瞬防御が弱くなったって言うけど、実際は一瞬じゃなくキシリアが指揮を継承した後も動き鈍かったんじゃないかなと思う。
指揮をするのはキシリアでも、それを伝達するのは指揮所の要員だからな。あの状況では内心修羅場で、命令伝達も戦況報告をキシリアに伝えるのもグダグダだったろ。しかも指揮継承の間隙ぬって連邦の部隊が青葉区に取り付いてるし。
ギレンが指揮してる最中も言うほど圧倒的ではなかった説は結果からの逆算で言ってると思うけど、上記の要素考えたら実はギレン射殺が想像以上に戦力低下を招いたんじゃないかと。

戦争が終わってからでは、ギレンがジオンの勝利者として君臨してキシリアでは勝てない政敵になる
おそらく英雄視までされて父殺しの罪も効かない
戦況から連邦に勝てると判断した時点で暗殺してしまうしかない（判断ミスだったが）

そもそもキシリアに(あの時点での)用兵ができたかと言うとなかなかに疑問である
一般的なことは出来ただろうけど、あそこでギレンが狙ってたのは時間切れ(連邦の疲弊)による和平なり停戦であって勝利じゃないでしょ
月に別働隊がいて、アバオアクーとで挟める状態なんだから勝つ必要はなく、連邦を二進も三進も行かない状態にすれば事実上の勝利(ジオン有利の和平)も夢ではなかった
それなのに、ギレンの「圧倒的ではないか」と言う言葉を真に受けて(？)攻めて勝てるって思っちゃったのが勘違い
あの時点でまだ連邦は攻めて来てたんだし、要塞に張り付いて防衛線を維持しなきゃならんかった状態
そこを攻めろって言っちゃったもんだから、前線では相当混乱したと思うよ
そもそも前線指揮官はまともに動けない学徒兵も守りつつなんだから、そんなの引っ張って出張りたくはないでしょうし
自軍の内情もよく分からんまま、押し切ればいいのだの精神でやっちゃったのがダメなんだろうな
